The Christmas village is rising in Hafnarfjörður
The Christmas Village. Who can wait? Preparations are in full swing. Everything is about to come together. The excitement is building. The square is beginning to take on the right Christmas look. Our Christmas Village opens on Friday, 14th November. It has been standing in the heart of Hafnarfjörður for 22 years!
„Oh, yes, I'm so excited! Every single year we find new ways to make the village even cosier and more in keeping with the Christmas spirit here in Hafnarfjörður. The Christmas village has become a cherished part of the Christmas preparations for many families. It always makes me happy to see how much people enjoy coming here,“ says Sunna Magnúsdóttir, its manager.
Nearly fifty shops and service businesses are keeping watch in the Christmas Village in the run-up to this Christmas – offering everything from baby products, handicrafts, Christmas decorations, groceries, sweets, and natural products. The village is also uniquely connected to the High Street, which makes this Christmas Village of ours, for the people of Hafnarfjörður, unique. But what's the best part?
„I can't pick a favourite from all those involved with the village this year, but I can say the choice was extremely difficult,“ says Sunna, as 90 businesses and individuals vied for the opportunity. „We based our decision on experience of what suits our Christmas Village best. There will be something for everyone.“
The Christmas village will be open:
- Fridays 5-8 pm
- Saturdays 1-4 pm
- Sundays 1-6 pm
The opening is just around the corner and all loose ends are being tied up these days. There will be many events in the Christmas Village. Of course, there will be Grýla, Leppalúði and the Yule Lads, but also princesses, VÆB brothers, choirs and Throstir.
„Yes, our Christmas village will be unique this year.“
