Hafnarfjörður Library's Summer Reading starts today.

The summer holidays are now upon us in Hafnarfjörður's primary schools, and reading often gets forgotten as there is so much fun to be had. Research shows that children's reading skills can be lost over the summer months, so it is important to maintain them during the summer holidays. The Hafnarfjörður Library wants to help parents with this by offering a summer reading programme, just like in previous years.

Hafnarfjörður encourages environmentally friendly measures

The Hafnarfjörður Town Council has approved seven proposals for measures to encourage housebuilders to prioritise the environment, in line with the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals, stricter requirements for lower greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere and increased public environmental awareness. Cleaning of the Sewerage Pumping Stations

Notice regarding the cleaning of the Hafnarfjörður Sewerage pumping stations. The annual cleaning of the Sewerage pumping stations is now due. The work is scheduled to take place from 20th to 24th May. During the cleaning, some sewage will flow through overflow channels into the sea, but every effort will be made to minimise this.
