Town Council Meeting, 2 May

A town council meeting has been called for Thursday, 2nd May. The formal meeting will begin at 16:00 in the town council chamber at Hafnarborg, Strandgata 34. The agenda for the meeting can be accessed here. The meeting can be watched live here.

Hundreds of children took part in the cross-country run.

The annual Hafnarfjörður Cross-Country Race took place on the first day of summer, 25th April, in Víðistaðatún. There were around four hundred competitors in 12 categories, with the largest turnout in the youngest age groups. 22 projects receive cultural grants

Grants for projects and events were awarded at a ceremony in Hafnarborg today, the last day of winter, with 22 projects receiving funding on this occasion. Projects include the podcast Hafnfirðingurinn, the Vegan Festival, the HEIMA festival, a multicultural festival in the north of Hafnarfjörður and all kinds of concerts. Björk is the 2019 Artist in Residence of Hafnarfjörður.

The visual artist Björk Jakobsdóttir was today awarded the title of Artist in Residence of Hafnarfjörður 2019. Björk has, throughout her career, undertaken a variety of roles, working as an actress, director, producer, playwright and stand-up comedian.
