At the start of the town council meeting on Wednesday, Guðríður Ósk Elíasdóttir was remembered, as she had recently passed away. Guðríður was a trade union leader and was actively involved in social affairs. She was the leader of the Framtíðin Women's Trade Union in Hafnarfjörður and a former vice-president of the ASÍ. Price below average

The ASÍ price monitoring is currently examining changes in local council fee structures. The day care fee for Hafnarfjörður's leisure centres is among the lowest overall, at just 3,146 króna below the lowest fee and 8,669 króna below the highest. The average price of day care across the board is 19,402 kr., whereas the price in Hafnarfjörður is 17,311 kr. The Great Reading Competition

Enhancing the work of older people

A highly ambitious and health-promoting programme is under way at the Association of Senior Citizens in Hafnarfjörður.
