Ash Wednesday

All children in Hafnarfjörður will experience Ash Wednesday festivities in their local area this year. All primary schools in Hafnarfjörður will have a shortened day and their normal school routine will be disrupted.  Each school organises its own programme until 11:00 a.m. The after-school clubs have a programme of entertainment for the children who are there. On Saturday, 14th February, Schools of Music Day will be celebrated in almost all music schools in the country. At the Hafnarfjörður Music School, there has been a long-standing tradition of a programme in the school on this day. Free swimming during the winter holiday

At its meeting this morning, the Town Council agreed that from 25th February to 1st March, when there is a planning day and winter holiday in Hafnarfjörður's nurseries and primary schools, everyone will be granted free admission to the town's swimming pools.
