We are looking for a driven and dynamic behaviour specialist to join us on a one-year supply teaching basis. The appointment is from 1 August 2026.
Skarðshlíðarskóli is seeking a driven and dynamic behaviour analyst to join its ambitious school community. The school's values are collaboration, friendship and perseverance.
At Skarðshlíðarskóli, we have enthusiastic and fun-loving pupils, a dedicated staff, and a strong parent body. We emphasise a good working atmosphere, team teaching, varied teaching methods, SMT school skills, and ensuring all pupils achieve good results in play and work. Mílan is an integral part of the school's work, which involves pupils and staff going outside daily to walk, jog or run for 15 minutes.
The implementation of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) began in the autumn of 2020. UDL provides students with the opportunity to learn in different ways and to demonstrate their skills in different ways. Students are active and have an influence on their own learning.
Skarðshlíðarskóli is a comprehensive school with pupils in Years 1-10. Next winter, there will be around 530 pupils at the school. The school building is impressive and the school is well-equipped, with a sports hall, a branch of the Hafnarfjörður Music School and a four-department nursery school in an adjoining building.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Behaviour analysis and behaviour training for students.
- Observe in the school environment and formulate intervention plans in consultation with teachers and support staff.
- Develop visual layouts, reward systems and other practical solutions.
- Collaboration and advice to the school's management, teachers and staff.
- Advice and support for students and their parents as part of a comprehensive intervention.
- Participation in cross-disciplinary teamwork as required
- Working with social skills and adapting learning content and learning situations
- Promote the welfare of students in collaboration with parents and other professionals.
- Working to create a good atmosphere in the school and ensuring the safety and well-being of pupils and staff.
- Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.
Educational and competency requirementsTo be continued
- B.A., B.S., or B.Ed. degree in the health, education, or social sciences.
- M.A./M.S. in Applied Behaviour Analysis
- Knowledge of SMT desirable
- Agility in communication, flexibility and cooperativeness
- Initiative and autonomy in work methods
- Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious environment
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
- Very good Icelandic skills
A condition of employment is that the person has a clean criminal record.
