School and leisure assistant – Áslandsskóli
Áslandsskóli is looking to hire a School and Leisure Assistant for the 50%-100% position at the Tröllaheima after-school club.
This is a part-time position involving providing support and assistance to pupils in Years 1–4 at the after-school club, Tröllaheimar.
Tröllaheimar offers a wide range of leisure activities, with an emphasis on providing organised activities suitable for everyone. On school planning days and during the school holidays (Christmas and Easter), the after-school club is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
Áslandsskóli was founded in 2001 and has around 420 pupils. The school's motto is cooperation, responsibility, consideration and trust. The school follows the SMT School Skills approach, which focuses on approaching pupils in a positive way, paying attention to and reinforcing good behaviour, strengthening and promoting positive relationships between pupils, and creating a positive school atmosphere.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Assistance with professional work with students
- Works under the guidance of the next senior manager.
- Fosters good discipline and positive communication
- Participates in the planning, preparation and delivery of a diverse range of leisure activities.
- Promoting the well-being of young people in partnership with parents and other professionals.
- To involve as many people as possible, regardless of ability or development, in a variety of activities and to take full part in the activities and events that are organised.
- Other tasks in accordance with the job description for school and leisure assistants, and tasks assigned to an employee by a supervisor.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Interest in professional work with children and young people
- Icelandic proficiency A2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Good teamwork and communication skills
- Initiative, independence and an organised approach to work
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances
- Punctuality and conscientiousness
- Ability to work under pressure
A clean criminal record is required upon employment.
