A national literacy campaign

Today, a partnership agreement was signed between the City of Hafnarfjörður, representatives of Hafnarfjörður's Homes and Schools, and the Minister of Education and Culture on a national initiative for children's and young people's literacy. The ceremony took place at Lækjarskóli.  Photos from the ceremony can be found on the city's Facebook page.

Willingness to accept refugees

The Education Committee agreed at its meeting yesterday to establish a working group tasked with assessing the accommodation needs of the nursery and primary schools in Völlum. Support for staff in early years education

Today, agreements were signed with staff at the town's nurseries who will receive a study grant from the City of Hafnarfjörður to study for a degree in early childhood education. 23 staff members of the nurseries have received a study grant to pursue studies in early childhood education, either for a foundation degree or a master's degree.
