Öldutúnsskóli is looking for a class teacher for the early years.

This is a temporary cover position until the end of the school year.

Öldutúnsskóli has about 590 pupils in years 1-10.

The school emphasises a creative and rewarding learning environment, where the aim is to make learning both interesting and enjoyable. We emphasise a good working atmosphere, varied teaching methods and strong collaboration. Teamwork and team teaching play a significant role in the school's work.

The motto of the school is Respect, functionality and well-being and the school's work is based on these values. The school works according to the SMT philosophy of positive behaviour for learning and the Olweus programme against bullying and antisocial behaviour. A strong emphasis is also placed on environmental issues.

Key responsibilities and duties:

• Responsible for general teaching and supervision of pupils in the early years.
• Participate in the development and shaping of school activities.
• To promote the learning and well-being of pupils in partnership with parents and other school professionals.
• Working on the development of school operations in consultation with management and colleagues.
• Work in accordance with the school's policies and values
• Foster a good working atmosphere and ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.
• Perform other duties as required by the job description.

Educational and competency requirements:

• Teaching licence (a licence must accompany the application)
• Experience of teaching in a primary school is desirable.
• A sound knowledge of subject pedagogy at the early years level is desirable.
• Interest and/or experience in pastoral care
• Diplomatic, flexible and a good team player
• Initiative and autonomy in work methods
• Positivity and an interest in working in a creative and ambitious school environment.
• Punctuality and conscientiousness
• Good command of Icelandic, at a minimum at proficiency level C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

A clean criminal record is a condition.
