Hafnarfjörður is looking for a staff member for work in water and sewerage. This is a varied field role involving the maintenance and monitoring of the town's vital infrastructure.
We are looking for a responsible and solution-oriented individual with an interest in practical work, who takes pride in good working practices and teamwork. The role is within the Environment and Planning Department, where the emphasis is on professionalism and safety.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Assisting with the maintenance and inspection of machinery.
- Assisting with the maintenance and monitoring of water and sewerage systems, which includes, for example, leak detection, checking for incorrect connections, inflow, and whether undesirable substances are being introduced into the sewerage system.
- Participates in the maintenance, repair and inspection of water and sewerage plant equipment.
- Maintenance and inspection of pumping stations, distribution reservoirs and valve houses
- Other tasks that a manager assigns to an employee
Educational and competency requirements:
- Extensive experience in a comparable role
- It is desirable that the candidate has completed a course in underground installation.
- Knowledge of pumps and machinery is desirable.
- Teamwork and communication skills, and a good service-mindedness
- Initiative, independence and organisational skills
- General computer skills and the ability to adopt new technologies
- Good knowledge of Icelandic
- Driving licence

Remuneration is in accordance with the collective agreement of the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the relevant trade union.
