We are looking for leisure activity leaders for Tómstund. This is a 100% position. Tómstund is a varied summer programme for students who have just completed years 4–7. Tómstund will be held at Engidalsskóli and Hraunvallaskóli from 8 June to 17 July.
The main aims of Tómstund are to keep children active during the summer holidays, give them the opportunity to meet other children, discover interesting activities and rekindle old hobbies. Tómstund leaders organise the activities and run a variety of workshops.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Participates in organising and shaping a varied programme.
- Extensive communication and collaboration with children
- Create a positive atmosphere based on respect and democratic working practices.
- Support for the initiative of children and adolescents ensures their safety and well-being.
- Works to provide information to children, parents and partners
- Other tasks assigned by a supervisor and in accordance with the leisure leader's job description.
Educational and competency requirements:
- Experience of working with children and young people
- A diverse range of interests that can be utilised in the work of community centres is an advantage.
- Knowledge of Icelandic
- Punctuality, organisational skills, initiative and the ability to work independently
- General computer skills
It is a condition that the individual can provide a clean criminal record before employment.

The salary is in accordance with the collective agreement between the Association of Icelandic Local Authorities and the Hafnarfjörður Staff Association.
