An ambitious specialist is sought for a future position at a home for people with disabilities.
The Municipality of Hafnarfjörður is seeking to hire an ambitious specialist for a home for people with disabilities for a varied and exciting role. The position is 80-100% and the successful candidate must be available to work all types of shifts. The work is carried out in accordance with a specific philosophy. Servant leadership and the position is vacant from 1 August 2026.
Key responsibilities and duties:
- Working on the creation of service and individual plans in consultation with the user, and their review.
- Performs professional duties in collaboration and consultation with service users and the manager.
- Participates in training and professional support for staff in their daily work.
- Enables service users to participate in the community.
- To provide service users with personalised, individual support in their daily lives.
- General household chores
- Other tasks as per the job description and as assigned by a superior.
Educational and competency requirements:
- A university degree (B.A./B.S.) in Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Education, Physiotherapy, or another recognised discipline relevant to the role.
- Experience of working with disabled people is desirable.
- Experience in project management or project support is an advantage.
- Interest in the affairs of disabled people.
- Collaboration and organisational skills.
- Independent work.
- Conscientiousness, patience and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and a strong service-mindedness
- Knowledge of Icelandic is a requirement.
The condition is that the person has reached the age of 20 and has a clean criminal record.

Salary in accordance with the current collective agreement between the Federation of Icelandic Municipalities and BHM.
