Óskar Guðjónsson appointed as Director of the Library

Óskar Guðjónsson has been appointed the new director of the Hafnarfjörður Library and will start work at the beginning of August. Óskar holds a Master's degree in Library Science from the State University of New Jersey and a BA in Library and Information Science and Literature from the University of Iceland. Cultural walks all summer long

107th town anniversary

The town of Hafnarfjörður is celebrating its 107th town anniversary today. “Hafnarfjörður was granted town rights on 1 June 1908. On the same day, the first election was held in the Good Templar Hall on Suðurgata. The Outfall – changes to the pipes in Ósar

In the last decade, the residents of Hafnarfjörður took decisive action on the town's sewerage issues. A major project was undertaken, which involved the construction of four purpose-built pumping and treatment stations along the coastline from Herjólfsgata all the way south to Hraunavík.
